Mithradates VI AV (Gold) Stater This auction is for an Ancient Greek 88-86 B.C. Gold Stater issued by Mithradates VI of the Pontic Kingdom. Mithradates fought three "Mithradatic Wars" against Rome. The stater was minted at Tomis and has been certified, authenticated and slabbed by ICG as EF45. Obverse: Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great right, wearing horn of Ammon. Reverse: Athena seated left, left elbow resting on shield, holding Nike in extended right hand, monogram above knee, TO on throne, BASILEWS right, LUSIMACOU left, trident in exergue.
